Budget Justice and NHI

Budget Justice and NHI

In the preface of the publication AIDC Budget Justice_November 2014, launched on the 25th of November, Dick Forslund rightfully argues that “Budget justice is inherently a political process. This booklet seeks to raise a fundamental starting point of engaging with public budgets. Progressive civil society must unite specific budget objectives, that make sense to mobilise around, and that strengthen the campaigns of the mass movement towards addressing power relations.”  In a detailed analysis in Chapter 5 on NHI and the Budget, RHAP’s Daygan Eagar critiques the “the lack of funding for key NHI related interventions and reforms slows phased implementation, and it puts the scheme at risk of failure before it has even started”.
