Media Invite: State of TB in South Africa report launch
17 March 2023
The TB Accountability Consortium will launch its annual State of TB report titled Tackling governance gaps to improve care on Wednesday, 22 March 2023. This report focuses on strengthening TB programmes governance and grassroots level community led governance approach.
The report is intended to provide insight into how governance impacts TB outcomes at the national, provincial and district levels. Using the TB recovery plan as a benchmark, the report reflects on South Africa’s progress in implementing the plan. It identifies areas where we have made progress and benefit from increased focus. It’s central premise is strengthening accountability in governance, data accessibility and community-led governance for bi-directional decision-making.
Informed by the insights of civil society leaders, the report aims to mobilise the TB community of researchers and policy makers. It supports the call for community involvement in the governance of health care at all levels of the health system as a key lever to seeing a #WorldfreeTB.
We would be honoured to have you join us for the report launch. This will feature presentations from TB activists and TB survivors who will share additional insights on what is needed to create a #WorldfreeTB.
