Join RHAP in commemorating Youth Month, on Thursday the 4th of July 2024

Early pregnancy and birth rates have been increasing in South Africa over the last few years. This disproportionality affects adolescent girls in rural areas. It is crucial to understand why this is happening and how to strengthen current programs to increase access to sexual and reproductive health services.

The impact of early and unwanted pregnancies is far reaching, increasing the risk of mortality in adolescent girls, negatively impacting their education and economic future, and exposing them to stigma. In our policy brief, Rural Realities: Navigating Early Pregnancy in Vulnerable Communities, RHAP explores these issues in more detail and makes recommendations to strengthen sexual and reproductive health services and empower adolescent girls.

At the webinar, RHAP will launch the policy brief and host discussions on creating adolescent-friendly services, the issue of contraceptive stockouts, and ways to provide social protection for pregnant adolescent girls.
